Debater and timekeeper guide

Joining

  1. Connect to the same Wi-Fi or hotspot as the chair.

  2. Open the app → Join. Enter your name and pick a role. Debaters also pick their seat (the chair can change it).

  3. Tap Scan QR code and point it at the chair's screen, or type the line shown under the QR (for example 192.168.43.1 Y2BK3M).

    You can also scan the chair's QR with your phone's normal camera app: it opens the join screen with the code filled in.

  4. Wait for the chair to approve you. Your screen then shows the live timer, with synced and the delay to the chair's device in the top bar.

If the connection drops, the app reconnects on its own and you keep your role.

As a debater

  • Your phone shows POI as …, POO as … and POP as … buttons for your seat. POIs only work during the open window and from the other side of the house.
  • When it's your speech, the top line says You have the floor and POIs offered to you appear with Accept / Decline.
  • You can Withdraw your own point while it's pending.
  • Recording: once your POI is accepted (or while your POO/POP is being heard), your phone records you and sends the clip to the chair. Allow microphone access when asked; the app asks when you join, so it won't interrupt you mid-point.

As a timekeeper

You get the same timer controls as the chair: Start, Pause, Resume, Stop, Next →, and Ring bell. Rulings on points stay with the chair.

As a wing adjudicator or viewer

You see the synced timer and hear the bells. Notes and ballots are kept on the chair's device only.
